Dr. Nicole Jackman, DPT

Nicole graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Studies from Southern Oregon University. She then earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland. For her doctoral capstone, she developed a community-based research project focused on strength training and injury prevention in youth hip-hop dancers with Destiny Arts Youth Performance Company in Oakland. Nicole is also a National Certified Pilates Teacher and integrates Pilates into her practice.

She has over ten years of experience teaching dance and movement to children, adolescents, and adults of all skill levels. She trained and worked as a professional ballet dancer with companies such as The Kirov Ballet in D.C, The Harid Conservatory, Boston Ballet, The Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Oakland Ballet, as well as being a freelance dancer in the Bay Area. She also worked with ODC Dance in San Francisco for several years, teaching ballet and helping manage the Youth & Teen Program.

Training intensively throughout her youth, she understands the physical and mental dedication needed for practice and performance. She pursued a career in physical therapy once she realized she could combine her art with science and help treat people through movement and physical therapy.

Movement is life! She loves to move and watch others move and is passionate about helping patients reach their movement goals. She is also passionate about injury prevention, not only to help promote the longevity of careers and recreation for young dancers/athletes but for everyone.

As a physical therapist, she believes that her role is not only when people are injured or having problems but also for education and prevention.

Nicole lives in San Francisco and loves dancing, traveling, cooking, and listening to music (live concerts or in her living room while also dancing)
