Why Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy (aka PT or physiotherapy) helps you increase your strength, flexibility, control, power, balance, and coordination. We do this through manual therapy (hands-on) techniques, exercises specifically selected for you, and movement analysis.

Physical Therapy treatment is provided by Doctors of Physical Therapy.

Our Physical Therapy Process

At On the Move Physical Therapy and Pilates, Physical Therapy is a dynamic process that includes:

  • Discussing your history - We’ll have a thoughtful discussion about the movements you find challenging and the history of your aches, injuries, weakness, and pain.

  • Establishing a plan based on your goals - Your plan will be based on what your current challenges are, what you have coming up soon, and your long term goals.

  • Movement analysis - We will take a look at the movements you do on a daily basis and in your sport/activity. Together we will figure out the best strategies to keep you living the life you love with less pain and injury.

  • Strength and flexibility measurements - We will take measurements of your strength and flexibility so you can get a good baseline of your weaknesses and asymmetries. Your physical therapy plan will address these findings.

  • Therapeutic tissue mobilization, joint mobilization - Using evidence and experience based practice, we will use hands-on technique to work on your muscles and joints.

  • Therapeutic exercise and pilates-based exercise - We take a personalized approach when it comes to your exercise prescription. We teach you exactly how to make an exercise work best for you. And, we are happy to explain the purpose of each exercise so that you know exactly why it’s important. Click here to find out more about pilates.

  • Real-life application - We teach you how to apply the knowledge you gain in the clinic to your everyday life and we’re happy to collaborate with any other health providers, family members, coaches, or teachers on your team.
