3 benefits of stretching

Right off the bat, I want to say - We have a new class called Pilates Stretch. This 8 week series will be on Fridays at 10am and taught by Alyssa. It's a pilates mat class with flowing movements that both strengthen your core and stretch your muscles.

So, inspired by the new class - let me tell you 3 benefits of stretching you probably didn't know about!

1) Stretching can improve your vitals. By stretching the muscles around your ribcage, you increase your ability to breathe fully. This means better oxygen flow which can result in relaxation, decreased heart rate and lower blood pressure.

2) Decreased tension headaches. Tight neck, shoulder, and face muscles pull on your head and can cause headache.

3) Improved sexual health. Yep, you read that right. Stretching relaxes the nervous system allowing, increases blood flow toward the pelvis and has a positive impact on self-awareness. All of this can contribute to a healthy libido.

And of course you know, stretching can improve mobility, decrease injury, and increase agility.
