Pelvic Floor and Pilates

We're still basking in the glow of our Pelvic Floor and Pilates Happy Hour last Thursday. The food was extra yummy (especially the Ropa Vieja Quesadillas and Cienfuegos Dip from The Cuban Kitchen), we welcomed a bunch of new folks to our space thanks to the active San Mateo Mother's Club, and we shared info on a hot topic - the Pelvic Floor!

In case you have some FOMO, here are the top 3 bullet points from the evening:

  1. The pelvic floor is a set of muscles sitting at the bottom of your pelvis like a saddle or a sling.

  2. The pelvic floor has to be able to contract and relax in order to be functionally strong. In other words, it's not just about squeezing those muscles, you have to be able to relax and let them go.

  3. Those muscles and their ability to contract and relax help with many life activities. It's an essential player in core strength, jumping, bladder and bowel control, sexual health and orgasm.

Our next happy hour community event will be Thursday, June 22nd. Stay tuned for details.
